Marketplace gives award to Concept Note
submitted during the Forum 2012

During the Forum 2012, Embrapa launched an initiative to stimulate exchanges between Africa and Latin America and Caribbean countries. Participants from Africa and Latin America and Caribbean countries, except Brazil, were given the opportunity to pair up and present a one-page Concept Note (CN) outlining an idea for potential collaboration.
We received 11 CNs from several countries including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Jamaica, Cuba, Uruguay, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Venezuela. The CNs were evaluated by a team at Embrapa based on quality, relevance, feasability, and compliance with format.
We are pleased to inform you the Concept Note titled “Exploring Natural Variation in Cassava for Drought Tolerance” from the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, and the Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela, has been awarded the prize: one travel for one of the co-authors to the other author´s institution so they can better interact and further develop their idea.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your participation. Congratulations to the co-authors of CN selected, Flora Ismail and Ramon Jaimez.

The Marketplace Team is happy to receive feedbacks from participants of the Marketplace Forum 2012 and wants to share them with you all!

See below some comments we received from participants:

“It was great to attend and to participate in the Forum. Cumulatively, the Forum was a success for bringing together scientists in a great range of fields from Africa-Brazil-LAC with the dual aim to information exchange and linkage between the specialists. Also, any forum of this size cannot proceed without a dedicated team behind the scenes, largely invisible, but without whom things could not function as they should within the beautiful city of Brasilia and the fine country of Brazil. In this regard, we owe you all THANKS. Looking forward for further linkage in such related events. With kind regards.”

“I want to congratulate for the organization of the event. It was excellent. It was especially important that the Forum was evaluated by participants. I think It will help you to improve next events. In general you were very precise. I hope to visit you again. Regards.”
